It’s Okay to Take a Break, Don’t Quit

Wow, I cannot believe that this is only my second blog post of 2022! In my defense, I did try to write at the beginning of January, but honestly, I did not feel it, which led to my reasoning for this post.

When the new year hit, I was left feeling uninspired and uncreative. I had zero desire to create content, think of whitty and motivational captions for Instagram, or write blog posts. Even after constructing my vision board, praying over my goals, and saying all of these positive affirmations, I still felt empty.

If I am being a hundred percent transparent, I entertained the thought of “quitting” being a blogger.

As I went almost the whole month not posting on Instagram or heading to my website to upload a new blog post, I began to wonder if I would ever return or if I wanted to.

Only recently did I discover the root of my “problem.” I fell out of love with blogging. I really never thought I would see the day, considering I breathe, eat, and sleep being a content creator. But, I realized that I was too busy comparing myself to others, not celebrating my accomplishments enough, and ultimately feeling defeated because I had not “made it” as a blogger/influencer.

It was time to let go and just be me.

Here are the three things that I have learned:

  1. When it’s your time, it’s YOUR time- nothing can stop that.
  2. Things you enjoy should not feel like a job- if it does, you have lost sight of why you started in the first place.
  3. Know that everything has a purpose- your thoughts and feelings towards any situation promote growth, even though it may not seem like it at the moment.

I truly hope this post resonates with someone today. With so much going on in the world, I want others to feel seen and heard and know that it is okay not to be okay but to seek help if it is something you cannot fix on your own. And, if there is ever a time that you lack motivation, go back to your “why.”

Always know that you are not alone in this journey called life. I’m here too.
