Hey sis! Have you been working hard and not taking out time for yourself? Well, guess what? Now is the time! Whether you are in a relationship or single, reconnecting with yourself is essential. As women, we often neglect ourselves because we are always too busy taking care of others. Let’s change that.

Here are six things that you can do when dating yourself:

  • Mani/Pedi: Really, this one is just an excuse to be in a nail salon lol, but seriously, who doesn’t love a little pampering? Nail salons are a real game-changer these days. The atmosphere is nice, typically popular music is playing or HGTV is on (IYKYK), and they serve drinks! A nice cocktail or glass of wine will for sure help you relax. And, if you happen to find the perfect salon that massages your feet/legs just right, you will melt right into the chair!
  • Book store and coffee shop: Going to these two may seem minuscule, but they are great ways to disconnect in all actuality. Everyone stays on the go with their busy lives, so in an effort to “stop and smell the roses,” pick out a good book, grab a coffee and curl up in a window seat. I guarantee when you leave, you’ll feel more refreshed that you were able to be in a still environment and enjoyed something for yourself.
  • Staycation: A trip alone can be boring or even scary, which is why a staycation is a way to go. You get the perks of being on vacation without being too far from home. Research cabins, resorts, or beaches that are only 2-3 hours from home and book the trip! Trust me. You will be happy that you did. I’ve noticed that even a mini-vacay makes a difference in my overall mood.
  • Massage: Laying in a dark, quiet room while someone rubs and relaxes your whole body sounds like a recipe for a serene experience. Getting a massage is not only good for working out any tension in your body, but it’s also great for your mental health. The masseuse will hit specific pressure points to allow you to be in the most relaxed state possible. You will feel like a new person walking out.
  • Candle-light dinner: I’m pretty sure I’m not alone when I say that putting on nice clothes changes my mood. It’s something about looking good that makes you feel good. So, why not get cute and enjoy a nice dinner? Yes, going to a restaurant alone may be awkward initially, but think about how empowering you will feel afterward? And, look on the bright side, you won’t have to share your food with anyone!
  • Winery: If you are a wine-lover like myself, then a winery is the perfect outing for you. Typically they are located in rural areas with amazing scenery. With a nice glass of wine and a delicious snack, you are bound to have a delightful experience. And before you leave, be sure to grab a bottle of wine to go and save it for a rainy day!

I can’t stress enough how important your time is alone. Without reconnection, we often lose who we are as people. Find out what makes you smile, your dislikes and what it is you enjoy. Don’t t be afraid to go on that date!
